June 19, 2012 by Colin Moriarty The power of the IGN community strikes again! This time, news comes from NKilburne, who has informed us that both Walmart and Amazon have posted new information about the upcoming PlayStation Vita exclusive Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified. First off, its price. Both Amazon and Walmart have Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified listed as costing $49.96, officially making it the most expensive game on the platform. Unfortunately, its release date is marked as December 31, 2012, no doubt a placeholder. Also on both sites is a brief description: “Before the future could be won, history had to be written. Exposing that story exclusively on PlayStation Vita, Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified explores original fiction in the Call of Duty Black Ops universe with an all-new campaign of Special Ops missions. Optimized for gamers on-the-go, Call of Duty Black Ops: Declassified delivers the most intense handheld Call of Duty experience to date, including both Special Ops Story mode and Multiplayer combat tailored for the PS Vita.” What does it all mean? Well, it appears that Declassified is going to play much like Unit 13, the Zipper Interactive-created PlayStation Vita game that revolved around bite-sized shooter missions (albeit in third-person). Multiplayer has also been confirmed. This isn’t exactly a huge surprise, but it does confirm that what will likely be the most important aspect of Declassified – its multiplayer functionality – will indeed be in the game. We’ve reached out to Sony for official comment, and will update if and when we hear back.
No it's not the most expensive, Uncharted already sells for that freaking ridiculous price of 49.99. I think that price is a huge rip off.
THIIS is the most expensive and ridiculous price for a Vita game. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=21014991&findingMethod=rr
If it's anything like unit 13..I will not buy it...especially if it has that "bite-sized mission" gameplay crap.
It better not be like unit 13. I hope Sony is trying to help out on CoD, if this title fails to be anything like the console version say... if it turned out to have no zombies, online play only goes up to 6-12 people, maps are small, graphics are worse then resistance vita, bite sized unit 13 missions, bite sized online, bite sized game with massive price tag.... PSVita will fail, it will be seen as something that couldn't match the PS3. It would be quite stupid in releasing a game like that though, as who couldn't see it doom to fail? So I have hope that they'll get it right and we should have the first PSVita FPS title that's actually worth playing online
But the Vita -isn't- a PS3. A Vita will never be as powerful as the PS3 and CoD for the Vita will not be as polished as the stationary counterparts for several reasons -- one being the finances. Black Ops 2 will have much more resources (naturally) and expecting to actually get a portable PS3 will definitely get disappointed.
CoD isn't an impressive game, we're not talking about BF3 here with destruction where ever you go. Is the internet just as good on the Vita as PS3? - Yes, so give us the same amount of players.. Ranking/Elite - Very much possible. 4 player zombies - easy same online map sizes? possible same graphics? nope.. lower the resolution, take away some polygons - if they have to, lower the fps to 30. PSVita can give people a decent looking game while providing gameplay that's similar to whats found on console. If Resistance/Unit 13 was the best the Vita could do, then I would be disappointed. But that's super far from what's its actually capable with
meh, not fully disappointed yet although I would have liked a true story. Hopefully it's a full fledged mutiplayer though, I'm pretty bored of resistance
Honestly, I'm just in for the multiplayer, I don't need a single player campaign. Keep a steady framerate and I'll be happy!
would be worth it for all the cod fans that want a portable verison but im done getting sucked into this gay cod series its worthless
This game is giving me the heebie jeebies. Like I darent get my hopes up because it will be shit. Hope not though.
i don't have high hopes for this game ... don't think it's going to be the big bang like everyone wants it to be ... shrugs
I did have high hopes, pre-E3. But when they just announced the title then moved on... thats no good.
I'm not passing judgement until I play the game or at least see it. As long as it's a solid FPS for a handheld -- I'm buying it.
