Do you think it will be easy to jailbreak/ hack the PSV?

    The question is the topic.

I think it is going to be much harder to jailbreak than the PSP. I mean, the PS3 took a long time to finally get jailbroken, and then, they only successfully jailbroken the custom firmwares 3.41 and 3.55...and no higher, which means owners of these jailbroken PS3s cannot play newer games...only games that came out or was out when the custom firmware at the time was 3.55.

It has been more than a year, and there is still like no way to do it. It's new that they claimed to had hack above that, but that requires some advanced soldering skills, taking apart your PS3, etc. Only people with a now hard to find 3.55 or below PS3 can jailbreak their PS3, but it's not worth it so you can play only old games.

Then with the release of 3.72, I read up on Playstation news...it seems to be frustrating for those with jailbroken PS3s that Sony keeps updating the firmware, cause they can't play the newer games.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if hackers take forever to get the PSV jailbroken, and if they do, you'd still be stuck playing old games. I know not all people who jailbreak does not do it for piracy reasons only, but most do.

    What do you think?

I certainly hope not. The entire reason the psp fell was because of pirating. I don't want to see the vita take the same path

Well I have rules for hacking my consoles. When it dies (A new gen) I hack it for the free games and stuff. Like the psp I hope so but YEARS down the line...

I agree with Bankston. I HOPE the Vita does not get hacked or jailbroken. It results in the company getting less money, which makes them less faithful to the console because they think it can't rake in the bucks. I hope it doesn't get jailbroken so game devolopers keep their high faith in the Vita.

I really don't want it to get jailbroken either. I'm all for homebrew and stuff though, but most of the time, it's not used for that.

Yeah, what I don't get is why get frustrated that they are updating? Stop being cheap and buy the game when it gets cheaper if you don't want to pay full price. I agree that is what killed the PSP...it was super easy to jailbreak and get games for the thing.

You are right that it will be one, but how long would they be able to keep up? I'm sure that the Vita functions like the PS3...certain games need X.XX firmware to play, etc...but since they only jailbroken a older firmware, and are having problems jailbreaking a slightly newer older one, you can't even play the newest games. Like in my example.

And yeah King_DJ, you will not be able to have as much fun and do as much social activity as you would with a non-jailbroken one.

It will take a really long time, what i like about Sony is they make their products and games hard to hack usually (Well lets not forget the Playstation Network incident =/), especially when im playing games like CoD online so things are fair.

I have read plenty of different websites and forums on this topic alone. the psvita will eventually be hacked just like everything else, but it could take years for it to happen and hopefully sony will counteract it like they did on the ps3.

Honestly, I'm ok with it being hacked... but only to a certain point. As long as it can't play official PS Vita games I'm ok with any and everything up to that. From what I've seen so far, it looks like they're kinda able to get in through the PSP emulator that is already built in.

I am HOPING that that is as far as they can go with it. As long as they can't get into the Vita part of the system, I think it'll be alright. I'm all for homebrew, and honestly, if you could play PSP ISOs, I really wouldn't care because that ship sunk a long time ago.

But PS Vita games? I really hope it doesn't go that far.

Hackers, if you're reading this, think about what you're doing. Seriously, if you hack this system and can play Vita ISOs, we will NEVER be able to see just how truly great this device is. It's early in its life and it's an AWESOME little device. Let's not take away what it could potentially be, just for the sake of simpler games (SNES for example). No emulator or homebrew app will ever be able to use the full potential that a dedicated PS Vita game could use. Yeah, SNES would be great on the Vita, but ultimately, I want games that use the touch screen, the touchpad, the six axis, the augmented reality, the dual sticks, the interconnectivity, etc. Once it gets hacked, game developers will lose interest in making games for it and we will never see all the creative ways these features can used. Not worth it just to play games from systems that are generations old.

I know this will go on blind eyes, but we can hope.

Further, from what I'm reading all across the net, it seems to be that VAST MAJORITY of people DO NOT want this hacked. I hope hackers are paying attention to what people are saying.

In all honesty, its surprising how long it took for the ps3 to be hacked. As it was an extremely simple exploit. I imagine that the security will be tougher in the vita, since they ended up hiring a homeland security official. And you know he knows what the hell he is doing.

I, as all of you, don't want the Vita to be hacked. However, as Patrick stated, there will always be a jailbreak. The point is, that with such a great handheld, that took so much effort to put together, it is only fair that Sony and all the developers get what they deserve.

In the end, even if they hack the PSVita, you've got to hand it to Sony, because they stepped up the plate with many measures, that, although they weren't as well recieved (as propietary memory cards), they were taken for a reason

From what I've seen so far, the PSP emulator is gonna be hacked to hell (just like the actual PSP) but the Vita? Good luck to the hackers trying to work with that. I mean they're cracking their skulls trying to hack the PS3, why would the newer hardware have any issues?

i dont think that will be easy because sony isn't sleeping and she will update vita a lot to fight the hackers i think
and i hope that vita don't get hacked to play games downloaded from internet but a psp emulator woud be cool
but again not hack for play free games because i dont want the death of vita like what happened with the psp

Well let's not forget the reason for the mass hacking on ps3 I'm not saying it wouldn't eventually get hacked anyway. But what started the mass hacking was the fact that Sony decided to do what they wanted to do without giving a crap about us. By removing the other os support without a single word so yeah they kinda had it coming. And for the vita hacking part well games will come anyway the reason psp failed is because we'll it sux its as simple as that... Look at xbox 360 it's hacked and still going strong så is Nintendos handhelds despite being hacked... I don't like devices being hacked to the point where they can play pirated games. I buy my games and frankly it pisses me of that others get them for free I'm not a rich guy I don't own like 15 cars and 5 houses so yeah it makes me angry when others get them for free and I'm sure some of them are a lot richer then me. So my final verdict is buy the damn game like the rest of us
