The PSP didn't suck dude, it has much more potential than it did, and trust me it already obtained that potential, but then the mass pirating started, and devs are not stupid, they knew that they wouldn't make as much money on the PSP since people would just pirate the newly released game anyway. Sam could happen against the VITA, so I'm 100% against hacking. Even if they manage to do it, I'm still staying away from it and I'll still be purchasing my games to support the VITA!

Let's just hope it never gets hacked! Or atleast not in the first 4 years! Or else the VITA is doomed just like the PSP was after the piracy issues occured.

I don't think it will be hacked anytime soon Sony put a lot of security into the device there were reasons that the ps3 was not hacked for a while until other os was removed the first custom firmware brought it back that's all it wasn't until some group brought out the jailbreak dongles did people get interested and that's when it got really hacked now it is locked down again and might be for a bit, you can play some newer games with the true blue dongle but yeah the vita I think it will be awhile as long as the playstation suite it easy to get and people can develop for it then it should be safe for a bit longer

The same team who worked on the ps3 security worked on the ps vita and it took along time before the ps3 got hacked an it's 1 thing to run home brew apps but it's a lot harder to run vita games

yes sony has kept up with being able to stop dev's from jailbraking the system but lets face it .... it will be jailbroken , the prob isnt the dev's .. its the people who want everything for free .. . not to sound cheap but we aren't exactly living in a day in age were everyone can afford a 32 g card considering most games with saves will take up EASILY a 4g and even that can take a silly penny from you. . . its a vicious cycle of greed and people who hate being ripped off. i would put money on the table that if sony sold things at a much more reasonable price and allowed people who own a vita to have there own privacy without it being jailbroken then in all honesty ...many wouldnt care to jailbrake it .... just my opinion

Dude come on like i said look at xbox it got games every day still after being hacked 360 stil geting games everyday even though being hacked just like the Nintendos handhelds so don't blame it on the hackers... I'm not taking the hackers side at all but you have to face the fact that if it was the hacker fault development stopt on psp it would have done just the same on xbox and all the others

As has been said before it will get hacked there is no use denying that... however that isn't exactly a bad thing, not all hacks really are of the evil kind you know.

As for me... whether I want it to get hacked or not, I will decide that once Sony makes their official Sandbox SDK available...
For me hacking is a mean of unlocking homebrews on a device, aka. run my own code on the device.

If Sony doesn't lock their SDK down with 20 layers of DRM bullshit (like forcing people to release their shit ONLY on PSN) then I don't really see a reason to hack it in the first place.

Should Sony however charge developers a miracle just to use the SDK... or limit releases to PSN releases only... then hell yes - me want hacks.

Jailbreaking the VITA is going to require a fair amount of skill from said hacker. Even if they do manage to hack/JB it, Sony will respond with a patch that will brick the device making future updates impossible.

The modders I want to see are the people who take it apart and install custom lighting and cases, thats very cool.

agreed, i wonder what a transparent Vita case would look like.

But yeah it's been pretty quiet with regards to the vita being jailbroken... we heard alot about how fast they were going to hack it and yet here we are a week after launch and not even a whisper.

I would love to see Sony release a developer package like Apple and Google have done for their devices. That way independet developers could make wicked 3rd party applications for the vita.

This being said, Sony would have to have a VERY strict policy regading submissions. Last thing we need are 10000000 atomic fart apps on the vita.

Lol, I totally agree with this. It is a gaming device, so one would expect those worthless apps made by someone in their leisure time out of the question.

I certainly hope that the Vita isn't hacked in a long time sure it tarts out innocent enough like hacking in order to make remote play fully functional or make some harmless apps but then it always leads to someone finding an exploit on how to make pirated copies of games work and then everyone becomes aware of it, companies lose faith in the product and begin to make less and less games for it or flat out cancel their projects any one remember Elder Scrolls Travels?) I don't want to see the potential of the Vita be brought down early in its life so I hope it isn't hacked for a long time

the day that happens is the day the vita begins to fall the same way the psp did, I can't believe so many people want the vita hacked already its just going to make a ton of companies abandon the system

Does anyone remember the original TIFF exploit for the PSP1? After exhausting method after method of trying to break through Sony's propriety code one genius finally went back to the hacking basics and loaded up a TIFF image with an executable encoded in the hex. Upon opening the photo viewer and looking at the image.. BAM! Buffer overflow and the PSP was a hacker's playground.

I for one promote the 'hacking' (or what I call "unlocking") of the PS Vita. If only to allow those with the knowledge to finely tune these powerhouse processors into sucking half as much juice while pushing out twice the power.

I get why you don't want ISO's played from storage, I do. That's another hack that must be completed and mastered before it would rear it's ugly head in public forum. It's also something that Sony could focus on more intensely, even to the point of practical impossibility if Sony created an innovative solution. Ever heard of the phrase "Don't throw out the baby with the bathwater"? Well don't throw out our time's equivalent of Steve Jobs and Bill Gates with the pirates who seek to use their knowledge for evil.

    Just my two cents.

I dont mind buying the vita games, i dont want piracy get in the way of the devs and hence limit the number of available games in the future. but i wish they would release a hack so i can play older psp games.

And imo hacking now, difficult. hacking it in a year or two, easy.
