Yeah.. As almost, if not all things in life, it's not really about whether they are good or bad, it's a matter of perspective and how things are handled. As you probably may know, the homebrew community has developed cool apps or utilities. Problem begins with the same community pirating games.. it's all about how knowledge is used (knowledge being a common denominator for anything, for we use our knowledge to use tools etc.)

Depends, if it's anything like Apple Device jailbreaking, then you would be able to customize your device more, get any game for free, modify games, homebrew. Just a lot of cool extra stuff really...

I have to admit, I was a little worried opening this thread but I'm very pleasantly surprised to see the response of the forum members here. I'm glad to see we're not all dancing on tables in celebration of what may very well be the very thing that kills the PS Vita we love.

If they do insist on hacking the PS Vita, I can only hope (a fools hope) that they will not make copied games as easily workable as they did with the PSP. :

That is indeed very sad to hear... hopefully Sony will be able to prevent this.

I think it's great to hear this. Simply put, it shouldn't be THIS easy for hackers to break a new system. See, shit like this will cause other companies to invest a lot of time advancing their security while protecting (our) security and vulnerabilities online. If the hackers can get past the Vita's security in only a few months, that means Sony is really fucking up somewhere.

You're giving Sony your credit card information and personal information... If hackers can break into their system in such a short time, why the fuck would you want to purchase games on a piece of shit low-security network and risk yourself?

The longer that the system ISN'T hacked, means the better of a job that Sony has done in protecting US, the CONSUMERS. So don't get mad at hackers, get pissed off at Sony for being fucktards who can't protect their shit.

Well if there were no hackers in the world there would be no need secure anything. So saying not to blame hackers is a stupid thing to say if you ask me.

Its like saying "Well i could take the money from your pocket, so don't blame me because you left your jacket laying around"

There are pros and cons (depending on your point of view) with hacking your console. I personally love how I'm able to do so many thing with my psp that you wouldn't be able to do with a standard 'official' psp. I currently have a GBA and a N64 emulator on my PSP. I can control the cpu/gpu speed for battery saving, play my music in game speed up the game's load time and practically change the entire look and feel of the console. Some people hate it because you can use cheats (for me cheating is only bad when used in multiplayer or first play-through), play pirated games(in some instances) and ... well mostly the piracy thing. Since homebrew require certain security features to be disabled it allows piracy to take place, that's what most are against.

The whole homebrew and piracy thing is pretty controversial. This is only the PSP emulator not the actual vita and besides, the security isn't going to last forever. How long it takes all depends on the security on the games. Can't pirate if you can't copy the game even with hacking.

Yeah this could be good or bad. One of the reasons that I'm getting a vita is to play old snes and genny games on it.
Also wouldn't the size of the vita games combined with the cost of the memory make pirating vita game impractical?

I think hacking stuff to get free shit is worthless and cheap. Modding is completely different. I think stuff should be open source to an extend.

As much as i love the idea it's to much of a gamble when it comes to my knowledge and experience with technology. Can you imagine bricking the Vita, especially with it having the allure of the remote play. Gotta admit knowing I could possibly play Red Dead Redemption is so tempting. Though that means of course no internet.. Decisions, decisions.

Regarding Jailbreak, (former) PSN will ban the sh*** out of hackers on PS Vita tough.

And can you imagine NOT using the online functions on it?

It almost kills the whole experience.

Not to mention the online passes that are around because of the pre-owned game market. Sony is capitalisin on that now too.

I have a friend that is getting the Vita but he's waiting for someone to jailbreak it so he can have free games. He's done it with all the other PSP's too. Too bad that.

I don't want it to be hacked right away, as I would like a couple years for good games to come out and buy. After that I wouldn't mind downloading games that I wouldn't have bought otherwise. As well as emulators and such.

Something they enjoy doing in their free time. Don't act like the people who are smart enough to do this are low lifes who leech off society, as they aren't. They do this to make it a more open platform. Look at the ps3, if sony didn't remove the other os option it wouldn't have pissed off hackers enough to bother with the device.
