ps vita wont turn on or take a charge

So i bought my ps vita first edition bundle and things were great! Until after work last night.

I took it out of the case and went to turn it on and got no response.

I didnt power it down i just hit the power button to get the screen to go black.

I dont know if its stuck in standby or if its dead. There is no light on the PS button and it doesnt change if i plug it in.

The R+PS button+power doesnt seem to do anything.

Anyone got any ideas?

when trying to charge the vita, are you sure the cable is plugged in the right way?

The cable will fit in both ways, but wont work unless the playstation logo on the usb bit is pointing up. Also give it some time to charge.

Try holding down on the power button, or trying some combinations (power button + start)

if it still fails to turn on or charge, i'd recommend going back to the store you bought it from and replacing it... or getting a replacement sent out. :/

You can try holding the power button for 20 sec it should put you in a recovery screen

I hope it is just because you may have plugged it in the wrong way. I've been having a weird problem where my Bluetooth re-enables for some reason.

So i called Sony support and they think its a bad battery. i was going to be a little pissed off because extra money was paid for a first edition bundle to get it early.

But since i bought it from gamestop and it wasnt over 30 days i was able to go to gamestop and exchange it for a new one.

(I purchased a 2 year warranty with this one)

It is a charging problem. Solution is using Sony's AC PLUG. I had the same problem. Played a game battery went dead. Plugged vita USB/ charge cable into a USB AC plug ( not Sony's) left it over night. Didnt charge would not power on & no light of any kind. Called Sony. The vita won't charge using generic USB AC plug. Use AC plug which came with your vita. You can charge it using USB port on Playstation console ( if you have one) but it will take twice as long to charge this way though.

Hope this helps you. Went crazy trying to figure it out. Found out lots of people have the same problem.
